My name is Alan Meechan and I am a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist and registered Mental Health Nurse.
I began my clinical career following my own mental health diagnosis bringing a career as an aircraft technician to a premature end.
I consider my profession as a clinician to be a vocation and privilege due to the opportunity to work with people who have had their own difficulties.
I began nursing in the NHS working with people with dementia and their families before enjoying the last 10 years working with people with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder which I have recently left to pursue private practice.
I am currently completing Trauma Focused CBT and EMDR training to be able to provide trauma treatment, initially with safety and stabalisation work, before processing specific traumas. I am also completing my MSc CBT with a research protocol focusing on autism.
I appreciate that choosing a therapist is a significant decision based on time, location, money and most of all, trust, therefore I encourage booking a free consultation call to discuss potentially working together.
Most of the people I work with are located in Ayrshire and Glasgow however due to the benefits of remote working I also work with people as far as the south of England.
